PERFORMING: 2023 Heart & Soul - Acoustic After successfully partnering up for a couple of Christmas gigs, Lisa and I created "Heart & Soul - Acoustic" to carry on the music. This was fueled by a request for a Valentine's Day performance at Brookdale Jackson Oaks where we had the pleasure to entertain in December. Above is a link to our Facebook page and below is a YouTube link to our version of Fleetwood Mac's "Songbird." 2022 Yuletide Minstrels: 4 Shows, 3 Singers, 2 Time Zones! The Yuletide Minstrels had an interesting year as I moved from Sacramento, CA to Jackson, TN in late November. We did our usual Christmas In July show for the Lucky Find Market in Loomis, CA with Jennifer starting her fourth year as the vocalist and Eric Reitzell returning on bass. Due to having a new born baby, Ann-Marie stepped in to do an early Christmas show for the Lucky Find Market November 5th with Eddy McLay on bass. I had the great fortune to meet Lisa Monvignier after moving to Jackson, TN and we were able to perform as a duet at two care homes in December before Christmas. It was such a blessing having these three ladies being part of the yearly festivities! 2021 Yuletide Minstrels in full force! This year, despite the continued pandemic, the Yuletide Minstrels were able to perform a full slate of shows. We collected toys and took monetary donations (all our tips donated as well) for The Toys For Tots Foundation. It was especially heart-warming to be able to get into two care homes and play for residents and staff again! Last Show As A Hound Dog After almost 2 years in Billvis and the Hound Dogs, I played my last show with them on November 21, 2021 at the Mandarin Festival in Auburn, Ca. It was a great experience learning to play bass and Elvis' music was an awesome catalog to do that with. The Yuletide Minstrels Christmas In July Show The Minstrels will be kicking off their 7th season with their second Lucky Find Market's Christmas in July on Sunday, July 18th, in Loomis, California! We will be doing 3 sets: 11am, 12noon, and 1pm each following their raffle. 2020 The Yuletide Minstrels The Minstrels were lucky enough to play three public shows, two at Mikey's Tree Lots. We also did a Facebook Live. Here is a music video featuring clips from both. The Lucky Strike! Jenn and I have started up an acoustic duo performing covers and originals. Rehearsals are always fun with Jenn! "As the Lead Vocalist, ...." is her favorite way to tell me her opinion. Keep up with our doings on our new Facebook page, link below. Billvis and the Hound Dogs I joined Billvis and the Hound Dogs, an Elvis Presley Tribune act, as a bass player at the end of January 2020. This is my first time playing bass. It is a very exciting opportunity with both a new instrument and playing Elvis Presley songs. We were booked for the 5 Auburn Cruise Night 2020 until COVID-19 caused the events to be cancelled. We did perform on two separate occasions at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn, Ca for the Farmer's Markets. Check out our Facebook page with the following link: Yuletide Minstrels - Christmas 2019 The line up for the Yuletide Minstrels for 2019 included Jennifer Ward as the vocalist, Eric Reitzell playing acoustic bass, and myself on acoustic guitar. We performed at five Lucky Find Market shows in both Roseville and Loomis, a couple of care homes, on the streets of Roseville in front of Audacity, and at Capital Stage in Sacramento prior to their holiday play. In all, 11 performances in 27 days! Yuletide Minstrels - Christmas in July Show The Yuletide Minstrels performed on Sunday July 21, 2019 at the Lucky Find Markets's "Christmas In July" event at the Blue Goose Event Center in Loomis, Ca. It was an unexpected booking as we have never performed outside the holiday season. We had a great time and introduced our new member, Eric, on acoustic bass! L.O.W. - New Rock Band 2019 April through November of 2019 had me playing in an original rock band L.O.W. led by songwriter, singer, guitarist Marco Zolow. Backing him is Eric on bass, Mike on drums and myself as the 2nd guitarist. The style has been referred to as "Sinister Art Rock."
The Yuletide Minstrels Since 2015 I have been performing in different small projects. Each holiday season I have been part of The Yuletide Minstrels. We are an acoustic group currently consisting of Jessica on vocals, Eric on acoustic bass, and myself on acoustic guitar. We have performed in a variety of places, including at community theaters prior to their holiday plays, the streets of Old Sacramento-Folsom-Roseville, senior living homes, breweries, and private parties. A Little Gem From 2010 This is a version of a Beatles song I recorded in early 2010. The song is called Flying. The video was created March 31, 2019. From The Archives - 1982 This is from a rehearsal of Hector And The Clockwatchers in March of 1982. The song is called Here Comes The Demigods. Tribute Acts: 2017-2018 In 2017 I was part of a one-off acoustic Beatles tribute show (which lead to Ticket To Ride Acoustic/Electric, incidentally) at The Acoustic Den Cafe in Roseville, Ca. We did an hour long show performing 13 numbers. It was an all day event that had a fantastic turnout! Below are a couple of YouTubes from the show. In 2018, I was been part of a few other tribute shows. A Neil Young show in February, an Eagles show in March, and an acoustic >Heart tribute in June. 2007-2010 In 2007 I had the good fortune to meet Margaret Coleman while working at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tn. She is a fantastic singer. I began to play guitar for her and do some songwriting with her. She was instrumental in helping me put together three different Christmas projects and coordinate a couple of live shows to support those CD's. Even though I ended up moving away from Nashville where she still resides, we have remained close friends. Her and her husband, Chris, perform as Fire & Rescue Band 1980-1989 I played in different L. A. punk bands during the 80's including S-Squad, Hector And The Clockwatchers, To Damascus, and Lunch. S-Squad recorded two songs for the Keats Rides A Harley, a various arts L.A. sampler album. Hector And The Clockwatchers and To Damascus each recorded two songs for Warfrat Tales, another local various arts project. Each are still available on CD. See links below. Lunch was active from 1986 to 1989. Formed to just have fun and never play out, we tortured Beatles songs with great love. We wrote a couple twisted parodies, originals, and a fabulous Christmas Medley. Check the above links to find some of those gems. |
